  • Provide technical assistance to numerous communities, organizations and schools on addressing violence, engaging men, improving cultural competence, etc.
  • Provide multiple training programs addressing reproductive health, engaging men, violence prevention, confronting homophobia and other topics.
  • Assist in developing coordinated community responses to address domestic violence and sexual assault, improve reproductive health care, address racism and homophobia, and improve services for children who are abused or who are exposed to domestic violence

Taught Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Systems Theory and Advanced Practice Classes and helped developed the curricula for these classes.

2002 – 2006    CENTER FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES (Research and Prevention Specialist)             
  • Positioned the Center to participate in primary research;
  • Developed community partnerships to create prevention efforts of rape or domestic violence
  • Wrote curricula for prevention education

2000 – 2002    MARYLAND COALITION AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT (Campus Consortium Coordinator)       
Provide technical assistance, training and support for campus program addressing violence against women.

1980’s – 1990’s     VARIOUS POSITIONS
During the eighties and nineties, I was in a variety of community-based positions working with adults and children who had been victimized, adolescents and adults who had abused, and creating or strengthening community responses to address a variety of issues.  Some examples include:

  • Co-founding the Baltimore City Sexual Abuse Treatment Center to provide comprehensive, high-quality long terms sexual abuse therapeutic and advocacy services at no cost to poor children and their families
  • Coordinating the Men’s Anti-Rape Resource Center to provide resources, Technical Assistance, and training to engage men in the work to prevent rape and sexual assault
  • Co-Wrote and worked to secure passage of the original Violence Against Women Act

HIGHLIGHTS
  • In 2005, I was the primary author and initiator, under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Louisville, to develop a comprehensive Child Sexual Abuse training in response to the allegations of child sexual abuse that emerged.  This training received the highest level of approval from the FBI who monitored the Archdiocese responses to child sexual abuse across the country.
  • I was part of the initial team that co-wrote the original Violence Against Women Act.  I focused my efforts on the Safe Campuses for Women section, and the
  • I co-founded DC Men Against Rape, one of the first men’s collectives to stop rape in this country.  DC Men Against Rape became Men Can Stop Rape, who’s two first Directors I trained as part of DC Men Against Rape.
  • I co-founded and was the lead nonviolence trainer for the Washington Area Clinic Defense Task Force – a collective organized to protect women’s rights to access reproductive health care.
